Congratulations to da Longs! It's a Girl!

Congratulations to Grandparents Richard and Marquita, new Mama Gina and Daddy Donny! Renee is so thrilled that her new great-niece (and namesake) arrived Sunday and she couldn't wait to get to hold her. New baby Tarryn Renee was a whopper weighing in at 8 lb. 12 oz. (I probably have her name spelled wrong, but will correct it as soon as I find out.)

Beautiful beautiful baby girl!

Gone Fishin' with Dad

Emery caught her very first fish totally by herself on her Dora fishing pole! Needless to say, she was thrilled, (for awhile anyway!) She eventually got bored and threw her pole in the lake! Dad managed to rescue her pole only for it to get thrown in the lake once again! Emery loves the lake, and usually asks at least once a day if she can go fishing! She's crazy about getting to ride in the boat as well. She's definitely a little minnow straight out of her Dads bait bucket! Just born to fish like he is!

Hmmmm, Let Me Think......

"Is it true that boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses? Nope, not true, Jake still thinks I'm cute!"

More Beautiful Grandbabies!

My good friend Janz in Vermont sent me photos of her Grandbabies and I just had to add them to our "Proud Grandma" page, (because I know she is one too.) They sure are little cutie-pies Janzie!

Jake and Emery, Happy to see each other!

Jake and Emery had not seen each other in awhile, as Jake had been on vacation. They played so well together for a short while, then the "I want that toy too" set in. Jake got upset because Emery had something he wanted. He left the room for awhile, but they made up and continued playing. Mamaw said Emery got quite concerned that Jake was upset, and that she kept asking him if he was OK. I think the hug did the trick as they played nicely for the remainder of the visit!

Funny things that Jake and Emery have said lately!

Jake and Emery seem to keep us laughing with some of the things they say. It's almost incredible how their little mind works at times. Anyway, just wanted to share some of their funny stories.

1. Jake has a kiddie pool on his patio at home. He was playing in it and had taken off his swimming trunks and was enjoying the freedom of swimming in his "birthday suit". When his Mamaw got there, he wanted her to get in the pool with him. She attempted to step over into the pool (just to get her feet wet). At this, Jake started yelling at her; "No no Mamaw, you have to take off your clothes!"

2. Jake wanted to go outside and play on the swing set. When Mamaw took him to swing, they discovered the birds had left more than one "big white gift" all over the seats. When Mamaw explained they couldn't swing until after she had a chance to clean the seats, Jake wanted to go in the house and get "pull-ups" to put on the birds so they couldn't poop on his swing set again!

3. Last week Emery attended a church function over the week end with her Mom and Dad. They were only outside for about 30 minutes or so, but her little shoulders got badly sun burned.
When she came to my house on Monday I almost cried when she told me; "It hurts when I flap my wings!"

4. Emery loves to climb on the couch, crayon in hand, and draw on the front window. One day a few weeks ago, she had almost completely covered the window with her art! I commented to her, "now, isn't that a pretty mess!" She paused, looked and studied it for a moment then replied; "Well...it's not perfect!"

5. Today Emery took all her movies off the chest, and had them scattered all over the floor. I asked her to pick them up and put them back on the chest so that she wouldn't step on them and break one of the DVD's. She promptly told me no! I said; "OK then, but if I have to pick them up, no movies today!" Reluctantly she picked up one movie, and I suppose thinking what a task it would be, she hopped up on the couch, sat down, crossed her arms and politely informed me; "I'll just take a time out!" Trying my best to hold a straight face and not laugh, I told her "No deal! You can't have a time out!" That started her saying; "But I want one!" I couldn't hold it any longer and started laughing. We compromised, and both picked up the movies!

6. I also have favorite things that Alexis and Gabriel have said that I think are funny! When Matthew and Jennifer were remodeling their house, Alexis was inside one of the rooms standing at an open window. Matthew and I were outside. When I passed by the window, Alexis said to me; "May I take your order please?" (She was pretending to work at a fast food window.) Of course I played along and told her I'd have a cheeseburger and fries. She gave me a disgusted look and said;
"This ain't McDonalds!" I said "OK then, what do you have?" She replied; "Chicken with the leg on it and peas!"

7. I was spending the night with Alexis and as we were getting ready for bed, she showed me a little ornate box sitting on her night stand. Alexis told me it was her "prayer box". She said that when she said her nightly prayers, she put them in the box and God would come get them out during the night. She went on to say; "But if I am really tired or too sleepy to say my prayers, I just put some money in it instead!" (After she went to sleep, I took a peek in the box and found she had been too tired or sleepy at least for 35 cents worth!)

8. Gabriel got in trouble at preschool for tripping another little boy causing him to fall. I asked Gabe if it was an accident. He told me; "No, I saw him coming and just stucked my foot out!"

9. Emery wanted a popscicle. I had 4 flavors to choose from, orange, grape, cherry and pineapple. I held them up for her to choose which color she wanted. She chose the pineapple one. She took a bite and said; "Yummy, it's pine cone!"

10. Jake wanted Mamaw to tell him a story, so she did. She then told him it was his turn to tell one. He went to great lengths to tell her a big tale all about Sponge Bob. When he finished, he bowed his head and said; "Amen".

~ Maybe no one else will think any of this is cute or funny, but Renee and I do~ 'cause we are the world's proudest grandmas!

Yea! Mamaw Got A New Camera!

Mamaw tried out her new camera. She didn't like it at first, but when she gets used to it she will. Us old people seem to not like "change" in things very much so it might take awhile for her to get the hang of the new one.

..And No Photos Available!

Well, Mamaw and Jake have returned from vacation. The good news is, they had a safe trip and lots of fun. The bad news is, Mamaw's camera went ka-flooey so no memorable or adorable photos to post! They had a little bit of excitement by hearing a loud noise in the attic of the condo. Mamaw being the big chicken that she is was almost certain that an intruder had crept in somehow. Turns out, that was true! Animal control notified them they had set a trap in the attic to catch a wayward Raccoon. Next morning there was one in the trap. However, it was determined that it was a Mama Raccoon, and that she had just given birth. The control guys crawled up into the attic, but could not find the little babies. The Mom had hidden them well, poor things!
Anyway, it is good to have things around here returned to normal!

Have Fun Mamaw and Jake!

Mamaw and Jake have gone with family to Hilton Head this week. Emery won't know what to think with them gone. She will be asking to see them and what will I tell her? Hmmm, let me think....I think I'll tell her that Mamaw don't care about us or she would have stayed home and not go off and leave us! Ha ha...Well, perhaps while she's down on the beach soaking up the fun and sun, Emery's little face all puckered up wanting to "see Mamaw & Jake" will haunt her! (Just joking Mamaw) We do hope you enjoy your vacation and stay safe. Thank you for the cute little card! We love and miss you too!
