Nobody had to tell Frank to say "cheese" to get his picture made! This lap full of grandbabies was enough to put a smile from ear to ear!

Happy Birthday Mamaw!

Today is Mamaw (Renee's) birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY from Emery and Giggy! We love you and hope you have a good good day! Emery wants to have a birthday "Party" for her. Mamaw said she did NOT want a cake, but oh well, Emery does and I promised we would. There is always more ways than one to skin a cat as the old saying goes, so Emery and I will be baking Brownies with candles on them instead of a cake! Mamaw gave instructions that instead of a present she wanted Chicken & Dumplings. I still haven't figured out how to put a bow on that, but will think of something! Emery also wanted her to have balloons because she is so excited about having a birthday party! Just keep in mind Mamaw, you are not "looking any older," just more relaxed!

Emery gets a makeover!

Emery loved playing Beauty Shop with her Mom. I don't think the rollers stayed in very long, but as you can tell, she was having lots of fun! It's a thrill to see that she now has enough hair to reach around a roller, (after being a little baldy for so long!) Next thing you know, she'll be getting into her Mom's lipstick!

Monday morning Emery was crying to see Renee, but I had to tell her that Renee was working and could not come over. She started crying and saying; "I miss Mamaw," and even went on to say; "I need Mamaw!" I hugged her trying to calm her, and asked her; "Why do you love Mamaw so much?" Her answer just cracked me up! She answered; "She's pretty and shiny!" I told Renee about it and we had a good laugh. Well, Mamaw, I don't want to burst your bubble, but yesterday she was begging for a lollipop and I finally let her have one of those mini Dum Dum pops. She took a lick or two and commented; "It's pretty and shiny!" So...if she is comparing you to a lollipop, keep in mind that Dum Dums are not only sweet, but round and on a stick!

What A Fun Day!

Emery and Jake were really happy to see each other today! And yes, the very first things they played with were the frog and lizard. They read books, danced, and as typical for two year olds "wanted the same thing to play with", but in the end, they shared. Emery was calling Jake "Jaakkie" and he called her "Honey" several times! Emery was trying to eat from Jakes plate, and like an old married couple, he told her; "Now Honey, don't eat my food, you have your own!" They are just the cutest little couple playing together! (Yes, I'm bragging, but it's true!") After playtime was over, and Emery was settling in for her nap, she started singing to herself. It was so funny I just have to share it; she sang; "Do, Re, Mi, Fa," then paused and quickly added...."Fe Fi Fo Fum!" She went to sleep singing "Rock-a-bye Baby" and "Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum!" The amazing part was that she sang it in tune and on key! Close Enough I think!!!!
Disney On Ice!

Emery had such a great time going to see Disney on Ice Saturday. She was so excited when Mickey and Minnie came on the ice. Her Dad turned on his cell phone so that I could hear her. Her Mom made her a dress with Mickey on the front to wear, and a photographer for Rupp Arena saw her and took her photo. He said her picture would be posted on the Rupp Arena Blog. It will be posted one day this week and can be seen at this address. http://www.rupparenablog.com/

Look Into My Eyes.....Look Deeply.....

What will Emery think of next?
Well I had my scare of the day today! Emery got hold of a toothpick, and yes, I should have taken it from her immediately....but she was sitting in my lap with it, not running or running the risk of falling and poking it in her eye, so I ask her to let me have it, and of course she said NO....and not wanting to start a racket with her until I could finish feeding her, I let her hold it a moment longer. Little did I know she would proceed to take a bite from it and swallow it as well. I measured it against another toothpick to see how much was missing. 1/2 inch! I called her dad, and he called Dr. Johnson to see if she needed x-rays or checking if it might have lodged in her throat. The Dr. assured him she'd be OK, and not to worry that it would make the trip through and pass on out. I hope that's truth, because I could just envision it tearing a hole in her intestine, or being stuck in a tonsil or something. Live and learn I suppose! **Rebbie if you are reading this, your sister Renee accused me of "only you and I" would let a kid play with a toothpick! I don't feel quite so badly now!
