Giggy & Mamaw's typical conversation....

"You going to wal-mart later today?"
"Yes, what did you need?"
"Pick me up a packge of diapers."
"Yours or for the baby!"

Whose big idea was this?

I can't believe I allowed my good friend "Rebbie" (Brenda Short)to talk me into something so crazy, but...being the gullible person that I am, I let her talk me into going with her to see the play "Menopause". She said now that I'm a grandma, I would really enjoy it. She also convinced me that "every woman there would have on a red hat!" So...Rebbie goes and buys us these gawd-awful red hats to wear in order to fit right in with all the other grandmothers in the crowd. She assured me that was a big part of the show! Well, as you can guess, in the whole concert hall, Rebbie and I were the ONLY red hats in a sea of bare heads! I started to pull mine off, but being the good friend that I am, I did not want her to sit there looking like an idiot all alone! Needless to say, we left there laughing our "hats" off! The next outing that she has lined up for us is to go see "Sleepy Hollow". Hear this Rebbie, I will not, I repeat will not, go dressed as a headless horseman!

I miss you "Mimi"

Jake and Emery haven't seen each other in over a week because Jake has been sick, runny nose and running a fever. Mamaw (Renee) caught it too, so Emery can't understand what's going on. We kept them apart so that she wouldn't get sick too. All week long she has looked out the window and wanted to go to "Mamaw's house" to see Jake. She would beg for her "shoes on" and "coat on" then act so pitiful when she couldn't.
Get well soon Jake before Giggy goes crazy!

Bucket Head Gal

This is the bucket that Emery keeps her crayons in. For whatever reason, she would at times dump the crayons in the floor, put the bucket on her head and then laugh. She hadn't done this for awhile. Yesterday, she poured out all the crayons, but now that she's grown a bit, the bucket no longer fits on her head. She looked at me like it was my fault and said; "Oh No!"...She took the bucket off, threw it in my lap and said; "Fix it!!" (I was happy that the camera was close by!)

Just a swinging!

Cheyenne doing flips on the swing set. She goes to gymnastics too, but is mainly on the cheer-leading end of it. She is on the All-Star team which has won many competitions in cheer-nastics.

Jake "Tooter" Grasham

This is Jake when he was a baby, just chillin' in his crib. I hope my good friend in Vermont will look closely and see if she recognizes some of her handi-work! Thanks Janz!

Go Go Go

Thursday is Emery's Gymnastics day, and she absolutely loves getting to go. She always gets so excited and runs down the floor toward the trampoline yelling "go go go!" Her instructor's name is Kathy and Emery adores her. Several times during the week she will ask; "Kathy?" I have to tell her no, not today. Today I will get to tell her; "Yes, today is Kathy day!" I love the way her little face lights up when I put her leotard on her and have her ready to go when her Dad gets here. Go go go Emmie!

Same face, different child

I absolutely love these two pictures of Alexis and Gabriel. Matthew took the pictures about a year ago. What I like about them is they both had the very same expression on their little faces.

Peek-a-boo!

This is Jake and Emery when they very first started playing together. They sure have changed since then.

October 19, 2008

I want to see Mimi! NOW!!!

****Jake and Emmie didn't get to play together this week end,
Jake had a cold so we kept them seperated for a few days.
I would be willing to bet big money that Emery has asked for
him at least 100 times this week end. Emery has sounded like a broken record, repeating over and over; Jakie Jakie! I do hope Jake's cold is gone by Tuesday their next play day.

The Power of Prayer

Emery got to visit with her friend Kyle Raley at church this morning. Mike and Brooke were out of town, so Emery spent the night with me and I took her to church with me. Kyle was so pleased to get to see her. He hadn't seen her except through pictures since her first birthday party a year ago. Kyle was a premie baby also, and knowing what problems he's faced, he really took an interest in Emery. Kyle always leads in prayer at church every Sunday, and he always prayed for Emery by name. His father told me that Kyle also prayed a prayer for Emery every day at home. Kyle really loves her and we are proud to have such a special young man as part of Emery's
life. We know his beautiful prayers for her were answered.

The Hot Tamale Train Just went through!

John Anderson, AKA "Hot John". He's not Renee's grandson, nor is he mine. We just think he's HOT!
John is the son of our good friends, David and Rhonda Anderson. He is a freshman at Lindsey Wilson College. John runs a mile in 4:50 and has won many races. Yea go Hot John! ***John's dad David feels like my son, so John and his sisters, Ashley, Whitney, and Emily are more of my unofficial grandkids. (says Mary)

Emery the Artist

I grabbed the camera and
caught her in act!

One day last week, Emery stood on the couch and marked all over the front window.
She looked at her art work and said; "Oh No"....today she climbed again with crayon in hand, marked all over the window, again viewed her artistic creation and said; "Cool!" I thought about leaving it on there for awhile,
because she seems to like it so well, but I suppose I'll have to clean it off because since the first drawings, more than one bird has crashed into the window and knocked their little brains out. Perhaps they think the little red squiggles are worms or something!

Like Father, Like Son

Kalem (Jake's Dad) age 6 weeks, in his little red sailor suit~

Jake at age 6 weeks wearing the same little red suit.

*Some grandmas save little red boots, some grandmas save little red sailor suits, (just to have the joy of seeing them worn again!

Precious Hands

Looking at Emery's hand in mine, now that she is two, it is still so hard to believe how tiny her little hand was when she was born. To those of you reading this that might not know how tiny she was, she was considered a
micro-premie, weighing in at a whopping one pound and a half. Her leg was the length of my finger.

When she was one month old, her Dad's wedding band fit on her thigh.

Guess Who?

Is this Emery in a toy box?
No, it's her Mom!

Is this Emery in a blonde wig?
No, it's her Dad!

Both pictures could pass for Emery!

Like Father, Like Daughter!

Michael (Emery's dad) chowing down on Long John's fish and chips....Emery at Long John's swigging my frosted mug Root Beer. The hats are not the only thing that has changed in the past 35 years...Mike's fish dinner cost $1.99 , (and the hat was a cool hat). Now the fish platter is $4.79, and the hat is kind of crappy!

Jake the "Pilot"

Stick with me "Mimi", and I'll fly ya to the Moon......
Up.. Up... and.... Away!

(Well maybe not today!)

October 13, 2008

Never too late to brag!

Alexis and her prize winning pooch.
His name is Rudy.
I didn't have a "Bragging page" at the end of this past school year in May, so I will do it now!

Alexis won the following awards:

*High Honor Roll Award (All A's)

* Music Award

*Certificate and Medal for Accelerated Reading

I'm so proud of you smart gal!

Just a branch off the Giggy Tree,
What can I say!

October 12, 2008

All I need is a pair of shades...

Do you spell "cool" with a C or a K?
Oh well, it dosen't matter how you
spell it....just call me C.D.
(that's short for Cool Dude)

Take me out to the ball game

"That's right, they call me Spud, I'm a ball player!"

But sometimes, Gabe had just as soon play in the dirt!

The fastest legs on the field!

Alexis has had a great soccer season. She has scored lots of goals,

and when she played goalie, she always did a good job keeping the other

team in check, so... if you add in the "cuteness" to the talent and skill...

then...Alexis is the BEST one on her team!

(Yes, your Giggy said so) Yea, you go darlin' girl!

Snack Time

After playing on the swing set, and "helping" with Jake's mom and dad's yard sale, Jake and Emmie take a break to have a picnic on this lovely Autumn day.

Jake the "Fireman"

Jake got to take a trip to the firestation. He loved the fire trucks, but his favorite part of the trip was getting to wear a fireman's hat. You'd better watch out Jake, you do know how women flip out over a man in uniform!!!!

Kids having fun.

October 9, 2008

I scream, you scream, Jake and Emery love Ice Cream!

Mickey Mouse cones are just the right size for little chubby hands.

These boots were made for dancing!

These little red boots that Emery has on once belonged to Matthew, my son. I won't tell how old he is because that makes me sound too old...but...(the boots are 43 years old. Matthew had them when he was two!) Emery played with them on and had fun dancing.
